PhD or Junior Postdoc (m/f/d) in Bioinformatics or Biostatistics

Scope of duties
  • Statistical data evaluation of LC-MS/MS generated metabolomics data sets from observational and interventional clinical studies, jointly with clinical and other data
  • Development of new R-scripts and R-packages
  • Guidance of other staff members regarding statistical data cleaning, data management and data interpretation
  • Support of team members and project partners regarding statistical issues
  • Participation in the writing of peer-reviewed articles and presentation of findings at national and international project meetings and scientific conferences
Our requirements
  • Master’s degree or a PhD in bioinformatics, biostatistics, chemometrics, or a related major
  • Previous hands-on experience in big data management, evaluation, visualization and interpretation, ideally inclduing targeted and/or untargeted LC-MS/MS generated metabolomics and lipidomics data from clinical studies
  • Experience in multivariate data analysis (e.g. Cluster and Pathway Analysis) of complex and highly diverse data sets
  • Profound programming skills in R are needed; additional experience with other programming languages such as Python as well as an understanding of machine learning concepts would be of advantage
  • Analytical thinking combined with good problem solving skills
  • Independent, structured and self-motivated work style
  • Fluent in written and spoken English (and preferably also German)
